Harvey & Battey, PA is pleased to announce that Kylyn Mondor has joined the firm as an attorney in its civil litigation practice.

Originally from Maine, Kylyn completed her undergraduate education and law school education in North Carolina. She moved to Hilton Head Island prior to law school and worked as a litigation paralegal for a couple years before returning to North Carolina in 2020 for law school. After she graduated from law school, she returned to Hilton Head Island, where she worked and studied for the bar exam.

While in law school, Kylyn completed a judicial residency with a (now former) judge on the North Carolina Court of Appeals. As a resident, she drafted case recommendations and assisted with drafting final opinions, which was great experience for her to use her research and writing skills.

Kylyn joined our law firm following her judicial clerkship for the Honorable Carmen T. Mullen. Kylyn shared,

“While clerking for Judge Mullen, I enjoyed the diversity of cases we handled in both General Sessions and Common Pleas. I also enjoyed attending judicial conferences and networking with other circuit court law clerks. A unique benefit of clerking is that a law clerk gets to see the ‘behind the scenes’ of the courthouses, which, in my case, allowed me to establish relationships with courthouse staff, court reporters, and law enforcement.”

At Harvey & Battey, Kylyn’s practice focuses on civil litigation, which she is passionate about.

“I like civil litigation because it allows me to have a role in solving a person’s problem. I get to hear about someone’s dispute, gather facts, research the law, and find a solution to help my client become whole again. Through the life of a case, I also get to research the law and write strong, persuasive arguments in support of my client’s position.”

Kylyn shares that she is excited to be part of the Harvey and Battey team because she felt immediately welcomed by all, and she gets to explore a wide breadth of practice areas. She added,

“I have several, experienced attorneys I can look up to as I develop my experience and practice.”

Kylyn is passionate about the law and learning and is always looking for ways to sharpen her legal research and writing skills and to learn more about what is going on in the field as technology advances. She also has a strong commitment to professional development. Together,  she hopes to use these skills to contribute to the future of the legal profession. One way she already does that is by volunteering her time with the SC Bar’s LRE Middle School and High School Mock Trial programs. Kylyn shares,

“I think teaching and education are very important, and the best way for me to contribute to the future of the legal profession is to educate my clients and educate the students who are the future of this field.”

Outside of work, Kylyn enjoys exercising, traveling, and spending time with her family and her golden retriever, Bulleit. Her favorite place to travel to is Sweden, as she studied abroad for a year in Lund, Sweden during undergrad.

“It was my first time traveling internationally and the experience turned out to be a period of tremendous growth and self-discovery. To this day, I enjoy returning to Sweden to visit friends with whom I have maintained connections. In addition to Sweden, I absolutely love visiting Ireland. I love the culture, the history, and the beautiful landscape.”

Kylyn loves to travel anywhere new, whether it is domestic or abroad, allowing her to learn about other cultures and try new foods.

Join us in welcoming Kylyn to our team at Harvey & Battey!
